How I found my Photography Style as a Lifestyle and Tourism Photographer
Aug 17, 2025

Many photographers define themselves through a unique style. You look at their pictures, and you immediately know they were taken by them. For years, I felt lost because I didn’t know what my style was or how I would even find it. I watched YouTube videos, read blog posts, and watched reels of other photographers, and they all said the same thing: "Just do what you are passionate about, give it time, and you will find your style."
I used to be annoyed by that answer, but over time I realized it was true. I tried so many different things, from studio portraits to concert pictures to couples and congresses. Soon, I realized that I prefer natural light over studio lights, outdoors over indoors, warm tones over cold tones, and light, vibrant pictures over moody ones. There were certain color schemes that kept repeating themselves. Gradually, I noticed certain patterns that I used in every photoshoot and editing session, and what most of my pictures have in common. I would have never gotten there without trying so many different things and constantly putting myself out there. So over the years, I followed my heart and my passions and landed where I am today. Taking pictures as a lifestyle and tourism photographer, mostly at the ocean.
I am not saying that I found my unique signature style that people notice from miles away but I look at my pictures and they feel like me and I am really happy about that. I know that styles and tastes constantly keep evolving and changing, it would be boring if they didn't but right now this is where I am, how I shoot and how I would describe my photography style today.
Why I choose natural light
As long as I can remember, I have preferred taking pictures outside, mostly at sunset or sunrise. I just love the warm, soft light when the sky is painted in golden colors. Portraits taken at this time of day have a beautiful sun kissed look with glowing skin and sparkling eyes. And let’s be honest, who isn’t smiling while watching a stunning sunset?

Why I choose natural colors
My favorite colors are browns, beiges, greens, and blues. You will find these colors in most of my pictures. I like an earthy, natural look. I’ve always had a deep love for nature. Growing up in the Bavarian Forest, surrounded by greenery, and feeling at home by the ocean, where the different shades of blue meet the sand, has inspired most of my photography.
Why I love movement
Movement in a photo makes you feel like you are part of the story, not just looking at it. You can feel the freedom, the joy, and the moment. For me, pictures look more natural when people are moving and enjoying what they are doing: getting ready to jump into the water for a surf, running into the waves, practicing yoga, or simply laughing. I like to use motion blur to capture movement and energy.

Why I love candid pictures
It’s the genuine, small moments that count in life. If we pause and just exist in the moment, we notice details we might have missed before. I use my camera as a tool to observe, stay present, and be aware of my surroundings. These are usually the pictures with the deepest laughs, the ones that tell the best stories, and the ones with the most meaning.
How I edit my pictures
Just like with my shooting style, I keep my edits natural and simple. I keep the colors natural and warm, not too saturated. Usually, I like to raise the shadows a bit. I remove distractions and unwanted objects in the image if necessary. If people are involved in the shoot, I soften the skin slightly and remove blemishes to flatter the skin while keeping it natural. I am also a huge fan of black and white when it fits the vibe.
Why I sometimes add grain
I love the film look and the feel of pictures taken with old vintage cameras. Sometimes the digital high resolution just doesn’t fit the vibe, so I add a little grain for texture and character. It gives the photos a timeless, emotional feel.

How my pictures make me feel
I love taking pictures because they bring me back to those moments and the memories they hold. The conversations, the laughter, the atmosphere. They are part of my journey and they remind me of how much I've already come ever since I started taking pictures.
Why this matters to you
If you’re looking for a lifestyle, tourism, or brand photographer, it’s important to find someone whose style feels right for you. The vibe of your photos should match who you are and what your brand stands for, otherwise they just won’t feel authentic. Working with a photographer whose style aligns with yours makes all the difference. It ensures that the final images truly reflect your story and connect with the people you want to reach. My style might not be for everyone, but if you love photos that feel natural, warm, and full of life, then we’re probably a good match. I’ll make sure your visuals feel inviting and relatable and tell your story in a natural, beautiful way.
